The number one worry when buying kids' clothes online is simple: will it fit? After delivering thousands of outfits across India, here is everything we have learned about getting the size right the first time.
Age Is a Starting Point, Not the Answer
Two four-year-olds can differ by a full size. Age labels (2–3 years, 4–5 years) are a useful shortcut, but height and chest measurements are what actually determine fit. Every Inayah Fashion product page includes a size chart with age, height and chest measurements — thirty seconds with a measuring tape beats an exchange every time.
How to Measure Your Child
Height: stand them against a wall, heels touching, and measure floor to crown. Chest: wrap the tape around the fullest part of the chest, snug but not tight, arms relaxed. For gowns: also measure shoulder to ankle so floor-length styles fall right. Measure over a thin layer of clothing for real-world accuracy.
When to Size Up
Size up when your child is between sizes, when the event is more than a month away, or when the style is fitted through the bodice — party gowns should leave breathing room for dancing and full festive plates. For structured partywear, a slightly relaxed fit also simply looks better in photographs than a tight one.
Fabric Changes Fit
Cotton relaxes a little with wear; satin and structured fabrics do not. If choosing between sizes in an embellished gown, take the larger — a tailor can nip in a waist, but no one can add fabric.
Our Fit Promise
If a size is not right, our team helps with exchanges — see the size chart on each product page before ordering, and reach out on WhatsApp with your child's measurements if you are unsure. We would rather spend five minutes helping you choose than have a dress sit unworn.
